For-profit and nonprofit organizations frequently benefit from input and suggestions provided by people who have no official connection to them as either shareholders or employees. An advisory board often provides this feedback. Most advisory boards are comprised of community members who donate their time in the interest of quality services, and they receive no compensation. Advisory boards generally reflect a wide spectrum of community members to ensure a diversity of views and opinions.
